Thomas Edward Dorough was born October 22, 1937, and passed into glory on January 18, 2021.

Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was devoted to showing kindness to everyone he met, and lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His care and concern for people was apparent in the many lives he touched through ministry. His love of aircrafts, travel, photography and reading were well known to his family and friends. He leaves behind a strong Christian legacy for his family to follow.

Alongside his wife, Jean, Tom served in the conversational English ministry where he assisted students who needed a ride to and from class. He also volunteered with the Texas Baptist Men disaster relief for many years. This opportunity allowed him to minister to people in other countries such as; Sri Lanka and Poland.

Tom was a friend to many, and was loved dearly by his family and close friends. His family rejoices even in his passing knowing he is completely healed, and at home with his Savior.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Jean; his father and mother, George and Pat Dorough. He is survived by his children, Chuck and wife Cheryl; John and wife, Jenni; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Josh; Wes and wife, Brittney; Justin, Aaron and Katie; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Sophia, Logan and Madison; as well as many friends.

Visitation will be 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, and the Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday January 23, 2021, at FBC of Red Oak, 320 E. Ovilla Rd., Red Oak, Texas, 75154.  Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Grand Saline, TX.

The family requests that everyone in attendance wear a mask for the safety of everyone who may want to attend the funeral.
