Larry Joe Pickard
July 17, 1943 – February 17, 2022
Larry Joe Pickard was born July 17, 1943 to Chester A. and Faye Pickard and was called home by our Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the age of 78.
Larry "Pappy" loved his family, bowling, fishing, welding, and horses. He spent many years team roping and made great memories team roping with both of his elder sons.
Larry worked for TXI in Midlothian for 50 years. After retiring he cared for his wife of 56 years until her passing in 2019. Larry then started his own welding business and also worked for the Cowboy Church of Ellis County until the time of his death.
When Larry wasn't working, he was at church, visiting with friends, supporting his kids and grandkids in their endeavors, hanging out with his favorite neighbors, fishing with his son, or tinkering around the house.
Larry was fun-loving and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. If he ever gave you a hard time, know that he loved you. He loved big!
Larry was proceeded in death by his wife of 56 years; Linda Sue Pickard, his parents; Chester A. and Faye Pickard, his parents-in-love; Elmer and Lottie Bell Hayes, and his brothers; Chester A. Pickard Jr. and Bobby Wayne Pickard.
Larry is survived by his children; Billy and Patricia Pickard, Rodney and Kristi Pickard, Ginger and Michael Hoffman, and Larry Paul and Linda Pickard, his grandchildren; Kyle and Ryan Pickard, Mason and Logan Holbert, Cody and Kelsey Kubiak, Victoria Hoffman, Evan Hoffman, Hailee Pickard, Austin Nix, and Melissa Thompson, great-grandchildren; Carter Pickard, Aubrianna DeFrancisco, Nova Thompson, and Jordan Thompson, his brother-in-law; Don Hayes, his sister-in-law, Rosa Pickard, daughters-in-love; Brittany Adams, Diane Kilmer, and Leslie Perkins, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Larry's family wishes to thank everyone for their calls, visits, and continued prayers. If you feel led, donations in Larry's name can be made to the Cowboy Church of Ellis County's arena fund.
