Winnie Marie Shannon
January 19, 1930 - January 15, 2025
Winnie was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma on January 19, 1930 to Eva Mae and Strider Coplin Nation. She was the second youngest of ten children. She met her first husband Bill Jones during his seminary studies at Oklahoma Baptist University in 1948. They were married for nineteen years having two children, Mike and Cindy. In 1975, she married Max Shannon where they lived for 16 years in Dallas, Texas and 25 years in St. Louis, Missouri.
Winnie lived a life of service and putting others before herself. She was a strong Christian woman who was very involved in her church, teaching Sunday school for many years. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of having a deep and personal relationship with their Creator, and that all who accept Jesus into their lives will have eternal life in heaven's paradise. Others can attest, one of her gifts was being a devoted prayer warrior. When she would learn of good news and she would proclaim, "Praise the Lord" and in troubled times she would always start praying. She knew her prayers were powerful.
She felt so very blessed to be the mother of her son Mike Jones, who is married to Delynne Jones, and daughter Cindy Berg, who is married to Kurt Berg. She was also blessed with five grandchildren: Robb Jones married to Angie Jones, Katie Jones and Fiancé Ryan Mayer, Will Jones married to Hannah Jones, Brittni Hall married to Josh Hall and Alicia Berg as well as six great-grandchildren: Brielynn Jones, Sofia Jones, Julieta Jones, Isla Rose Jones, Sage Jones and Nolan Hall.
While we know that she is in heaven with her Lord and Savior, we will continue to miss her greatly and remind ourselves that one day we will be with her again.
A service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Jeter and Son Funeral Home, 4830 Illinois Ave, Dallas, Texas 75211. She will be laid to rest at Dallas National Cemetery with her late husband Max Shannon.
