WINNIE RUE LYONS HENSON

JUNE 5, 1933 – JULY 20, 2026

Winnie Rue Lyons Henson was born June 5, 1933 in Carrizo Springs, Texas. She went on to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 20, 2026 at her home in Midlothian, Texas with her family by her side. She was raised in Catarina and Pleasanton, Texas and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1950. She married the love of her life, Ralph Wiley Henson, on September 9, 1950.

Winnie Rue was proceeded in death by her loving husband Ralph Wiley Henson; parents Leslie Thayr Lyons and Lydia Mildred Cox Lyons; brother William (Bill) Herff Lyons; sister Mary Ann Lyons Griffin; son-in-law Mickey Allen; and grandchildren twins, Carrie Henson Allen and Avery Ann Allen.

Son Ralph Ronald Henson and wife Kathy, Midlothian, TX; daughter Sheryl Ann Henson Allen, Midlothian, TX; son William Randall Henson, San Diego, CA;

Grandchildren, Jon Eric Henson and wife Angie, Waxahachie, TX; Heather Henson McMichael and husband Justin, Midlothian, TX; Kirby Landon Allen and fiancé, Victoria Talbott, Fort Worth, TX; Keaton Randall Allen and wife, Christen, Farmers Branch, TX

Great grandchildren, Hannah Leigh McMichael Mathias and husband, Gavin, Midlothian, TX; Haley Lynn Henson, Waxahachie, TX; Jenna Brooke McMichael, Midlothian, TX; Cooper David Henson, Waxahachie, TX.

After graduating from high school, Winnie and Ralph married and lived in Pleasanton, TX. In 1951 Ralph went to serve in the Korean War with the U.S. Army.

After his service, he returned home and they moved to Kingsville, TX where he attended Texas A&I. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees and became a Certified Public Accountant. Thereafter, they moved to Dallas, TX.

Winnie and Ralph were long time members and faithful servants at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas. After moving to Midlothian, they became members of Oak Crest Baptist Church.

Winnie became a grandmother at the young age of 41. She became “Honey” when her first grandson learned to speak and copied Ralph’s calls to “Honey”. She was known as Honey to many family and friends throughout her life.

Winnie Rue’s passion in life was being a homemaker with a “degree” in cooking, quilting, sewing and spoiling each member of her family. Winnie’s baking was prolific and she showered so many loved ones with her cakes and sweets.

Winnie Rue Lyons Henson will be interned beside Ralph at the DFW National Cemetery on Wednesday morning, July 29, with family only attending. At 1:00 pm, a memorial service will be held at Oak Crest Baptist Church, 1701 S. 5th Street, Midlothian, TX
