Obituary

William Byron Moore, Jr.

June 25, 1951 - April 21, 2026

William(Billy) Byron Moore Jr. was born June 25, 1951, to William Byron Moore Sr. and Dorothy Marie Moore in Kermit, Texas. At the age of 10, Billy claimed Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. As a young man, he enjoyed serving as a song leader for the churches his father pastored. Throughout his life, he continued to praise the Lord through word and song, often singing and playing his guitar at home or at church.
He loved these hymns immensely "When We All Get To Heaven" and "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" & "Victory in Jesus".

He was a former member of Faith Temple and most recently a member of Detroit Assembly of God in Detroit, Texas.  His pastor, Rev. Jimmy Tuggle remembers Bro. Moore as a joyful presence who often entered the church in his wheelchair while singing praises to God. Professionally, Billy was an experienced concrete finisher, working alongside his father in the family business along with his uncles and cousins. He was also a gifted musician, singer, and songwriter, recording three CDs of his original music. Billy proudly served his country for four years in the United States Marines and was also a member of the National Guard and the Cockrell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
The joy that he spread everywhere he went will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children: Alton Byron Sullivan (Wendy), William Thomas Moore (Jennifer Rose), and Kristy Jones (Brett). He is also survived by his sisters: Debbie Bayer (Billy J.), Sherry Moore, and Toscha Reeves (Doug); his brothers: Rodney Lovegrove (Michelle) and Ron Lovegrove;
11 grandchildren: Jaimie, Scotty, Cassie, Thomas, Madison, Matthew, Caden, Ella, Kaity, Shayne, and Morgan; his great-granddaughter, Aurora, and a great-grandson, Baby Marcos, due in September 2026,and his beloved nieces,  nephews, and cousins.
