William Roy Hallmark, Jr.
March 16, 1924 - June 20, 2023
Roy saw a lot of amazing things in his 99 years. As a young man he sold "The Saturday Evening Post" door to door from his little red wagon. He watched his father trying to keep providing for his family after the depression until it finally claimed him and then Roy cared for his mother for the rest of her days. He was awarded the Purple Heart in WWII after being shot by a German platoon while stationed in Holland. Upon his return to the states he got a job as an accountant for Burris Mills in El Paso. He met the love of his life on his return to Dallas, married her and they had their only child. He proudly watched this child graduate from his alma mater, The University of Texas in Austin. His main career was with LTV Aerospace, retiring in 1986 then setting off to see the country in a travel trailer. He sadly lost his love to illness but was blessed to find a long time family friend to spend his golden years with. Her son and his wife made him a Grampa 4 times over. He outlived his second wife as well, but lived a wonderful long life as a shining example of a decent, loving, caring man.
Roy was preceded in death by his father, William Roy Hallmark Sr and his mother, Lillie Esther Oliver and all their brothers and sisters, his wives, Ethel Ellen Robinson and Renee Griffin Ray and their families.
He leaves behind his daughter, Nancy Ellen and her husband and Roy's guy buddy, Jeff Lujan, his stepson Duane Ray and wife Stephanie Niles, Grandchildren Mike and Tara Lujan, Jevonne, Sean, Keri and Chris Ray and great grands John and Kenneth Barnes, Rachel Martin and Averie and Addison Lujan plus nieces, nephews, numerous cousins on both sides of the family and a plethora of good friends. In lieu of flowers please consider a gift in memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, Mission 22 or St Judes or Shriner's Hospital for children.
