Wayne Thompson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Thompson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, businessman, and community leader.

Wayne was the cofounder of C&W Appliance Services, and USAA, the first Appliance organization around the country. He raised the standards of Appliance Servicers. Wayne was a successful businessman running his company for over 65 years old. He eventually sold his business at the young age of 95 years old.  His dedication and striving for excellence made him a respected figure in the industry. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Wayne was much more than just a successful entrepreneur. He was a talented ballroom dancer, winning numerous awards for his skills on the dance floor. He was also an avid snow skier, tennis player, and sailor, always seeking new adventures and challenges. He relaxed when he traveled. With enthusiasm, he looked forward to taking on the role of Santa Claus for children, and grandchildren, spreading joy and fun on many Christmas Eve's including just two days before he left us. He lived life to the fullest.

Wayne's kindness and empathy knew no bounds. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. In his young adult years he was a leader in his church serving as a deacon and on the board. Using his steadfast, trusting, and excellent managerial skills he made a lasting impact; helping his church expand and continue to grow.

Asking him at the age of 77 what he would write at his own eulogy he said, "I was a hard worker. I made my own decisions. I cared about others and helped them as much as I could. I wanted to lift them up. And don't let things get you down."

We will remember Wayne as a persistent, determined, and compassionate man who touched the lives of most he met. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy and special sweet, gentle spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church on Saturday January 28th at 1pm CST. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to The Stewpot , a safe haven for homeless and at-risk individuals.
