Wanda Mae
Martin
Feb 22, 1940 — Jan 11, 2026
Wanda Mae (Moseley) Martin was born February 22, 1940 in Borger, Texas, to Coy Elmo Moseley and Laura Mae (Early).
Wanda attended school at Arlington State College in Arlington, Texas, and met and married Richard William Mann of Raton, New Mexico. They had two children, Richard Lee Mann and Karla Kay Mann, however Wanda was widowed just before Karla was born.
Wanda went to work as a Stenographer at Bell Helicopter in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1965 and met Pete John Martin. One year and one day later after their meeting, Pete Martin asked Wanda out on a date - a date that included her two young children, Rick and Karla. They kept their dating relationship a secret from co-workers, and soon were married. When Rick and Karla were older, Pete Martin officially adopted them.
Wanda and Pete worked their entire careers at Bell Helicopter, with Wanda working her way up from Stenographer to become the Executive Secretary for the Vice President of Bell Helicopter. She retired from Bell Helicopter 28 years later - on the very same day that Pete retired, and together they traveled the world, and enjoyed their three acres and huge garden, and spoiling their grandchildren in Rendon, Texas.
Years after Pete died on October 10, 2011, Wanda was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and began to fail. Rick and Karla moved her to the Beehive Living Facility in Raton, New Mexico, then later to the Trinidad Inn Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Trinidad, Colorado, where she peacefully passed away on January 11, 2026, her children by her side.
Wanda Mae (Moseley) Mann Martin is survived by her children: Her son – Brigadier General Richard Lee Martin and wife, Roseann of Castle Rock, Colorado, Her daughter – 2010 Texas State Poet Laureate Karla K. Morton and husband Stan Morton of Raton, New Mexico and Ft. Worth, Texas.
