Victor "Cole"
Laquey
Dec 9, 1999 — Sep 27, 2024
Victor "Cole" Laquey (December 9, 1999 – September 27, 2024) was smart, funny, athletic, compassionate and an all-around wonderful young man. His accidental death came too soon and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Cole's fine character revealed itself early. He was a Boy Scout from age six, and persevered until he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Cole was an alumni of Rockwall-Heath high school. During his high school years he played the saxophone in the Mighty Hawks band and played football until he discovered his true passion for competitive tennis. Cole had the combination of strength and agility that made him an outstanding tennis player earning him several awards for excellence in his Junior and Senior years.
Cole had a passion for helping others, graduating from the Navarro College Fire Academy and receiving his EMT certification. In recent months Cole had returned to school and was pursuing a degree in psychology at Dallas College.
Cole loved the Lord and believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He always wore a cross around his neck and loved going to Church. He was a member of Lakepoint Church in Heath, TX where he accepted Christ and was baptized along with his mom in 2010.
He was much loved by all, especially his family. His relationship with his cousins was as close as most brothers and sisters and he was especially close to his maternal grandmother. Cole was always wise beyond his years and as a child was often referred to as "an old soul".
Cole had a great sense of humor and a big heart. He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin. He adored dogs and at age nine was given a lovely border collie pup that he named Oreo. The two became best friends as he taught her to catch frisbees and perform other tricks. Oreo passed away last summer and is certain to have been there to greet Cole in heaven.
He is survived by his mom Diana Ezzell and her husband David, his father Russell Laquey and his wife Betty, his brother Daniel Laquey, his sister Katelyn Sylvester and her husband Craig, his stepbrothers Colton, Tanner and Laken Ezzell, his maternal grandmother Donna Wit, and his paternal grandfather Lon Laquey and many other loving family members. Cole was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Victor Wit whom he was named after and his paternal grandmother, Janie Laquey.
A memorial service honoring Cole will be held at 10:00 AM October 3, 2024, at Jeter and Son Funeral Home with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. The chapel is located at 332 Cedar Street, Cedar Hill, TX 75104.
In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Cole's life, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the Oak Cliff Lions Club Foundation at www.oakclifflions.org.
