Adams, Basil Jackson, Irby George, and Gene Tanner. Also preceding her in death were step-daughters Peggy Adams and Carla Prince, stepson-in-law Rusty Prince, and brother-in-law Clyde Brooks West.

Venita is survived by her sister, Nelcine West; son Larry V. Moore (wife, Joyce); daughter Cynthia Moore Williams (husband, Rene); son Kenneth D. Moore (wife, Teresa); daughter Lana Adams; and step-son Roy Adams, Jr. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Scott Steele (wife Rebel), Emily Moore, Courtney Moore Jones (husband Richard), Julie Williams Vinson (husband Brian), Bethany Williams Lloyd (husband Theo), Drew Williams (wife Holly), Lindsley Moore Howell (husband Adam), Bo Moore (wife Blair); Zack McDowell (husband Johnathan); LeighAnne Prince Coughran (husband Jeff); Jon Prince; Jennifer Proctor (husband Joseph); Jeremy Traylor; and Richard Adams. Other survivors include 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Venita’s faith in Jesus and love for her family were her lifelong priorities. She met her first husband, Lewis, when he saw her in the choir at Junius Heights Baptist Church and decided to join. Venita became busy raising her children and being an active member in her churches. In the 50’s through the 70s, Venita held several leadership roles in her churches, including serving as the director of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) of Beckley Hills Baptist Church. Also, as the Acteens Director for Dallas Baptist Association, she organized and ran many summer camps for GA’s and Acteens at Mount Lebanon Baptist Encampment. She also organized and held summer day camps that served underprivileged kids in Dallas and Oak Cliff. Later in life, she was an active member of a Senior Adult Bible Fellowship where she made many wonderful lifelong friendships.

She always had a love of music, singing in the choirs at her churches. Venita was one of the earliest members of the Silver Serenaders of Texas. She loved singing with them for over 20 years in numerous concerts across North Texas and other out-of-state concerts.

In 1985, Venita began working at the VA Medical Center in Dallas. She served as an assistant in several departments, retiring in 2013 at the age of 83 from the Media Department. She was recognized for outstanding performance more than once.

We cherish her love and will remember her legacy of honoring her Savior by loving others and sharing the Gospel through missions and song.

The family is especially thankful to the wonderful caregivers at Timber Rock House, Midlothian, for their special care of our Mom/Mamaw over the past 14 months.
