Toxie "Sonny" Wiley White, Jr.

February 27, 1936 – August, 21, 2025

Toxie "Sonny" Wiley White, Jr. went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 21, 2025, after a battle with kidney cancer at a hospice facility in Dallas, Texas.

Toxie, the only child of Reverend Toxie Wiley White, Sr. and Louise "Clark" White, was born at home in Corpus Christi, Texas, on February 27, 1936, weighing just 4.2 lbs. His father attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where Toxie graduated from Bob Jones High School and later attended Bob Jones University alongside his father, while his mother taught school.

After leaving Greenville, Toxie attended LeTourneau Technical Institute in Longview, Texas, where he studied IBM programming. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for basic training. While there, he met his future wife, Carmen Charlotte Davis, who was visiting her brother, Charles Davis, a friend of Toxie's. They were married on February 7, 1960, in Houston and were immediately stationed at Fort Brooke Army Base in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While in San Juan, they welcomed their first child, Todd Anthony White, in September 1961.

Toxie was honorably discharged in January 1962, after receiving additional training in IBM programming, and moved to Houston, Texas. In March 1963, he and Carmen welcomed their second child, Charlotte Rene' White.

The family later moved to Dallas for a short time before settling in Irving, Texas, in 1965. While working for Service Bureau Corporation (SBC), a division of IBM, Toxie and his family were relocated to San Jose, California, in 1968 for two and a half years before returning to Irving. After leaving SBC, Toxie and six colleagues started a payroll management company, but the business did not succeed. He then went on to work as a computer programmer for the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank. Toxie and Carmen divorced in 1978. After leaving the Federal Reserve, he worked for an EDS division that later became Fiserv IntegraSys in Plano, Texas, where he remained until his retirement after fifty years in programming.

While attending First Baptist Dallas, Toxie met and married Janet A. Roberts on January 7, 1984. Just eighteen days later, his daughter Rene' White Creel (Robert) gave birth to Toxie's first granddaughter, April Rene'. In August 1991, Rene' gave him his second granddaughter, Amber Rose.

Toxie and Janet loved traveling, both abroad and across the United States. He also enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and playing games—especially pinochle, which he played as often as three times a week in Plano.

Toxie was preceded in death by his father, Toxie Sr.; his mother, Louise White; and his daughter, Rene' Creel.

He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Janet A. White of Plano, Texas; his son, Todd A. White of Houston, Texas; granddaughters April Creel of Gainesville, Texas, and Amber Creel of Whitesboro, Texas; great-granddaughters J'Lee, Jaida, and Jeorja Barnette; great-grandsons Preston W. Creel and Samuel "Sam" Villalobos; two great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins and extended family members.
