Steve Ray
Traylor
Dec 16, 1960 — Nov 16, 2025
Steven Ray Traylor
Steven Ray Traylor, lovingly known as "Steve," was born on December 16, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, to Jack George Traylor and Betty Jo "Eddings" Birdwell. He passed away on November 16, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.
For more than 40 years, Steve devoted his life to the work of tree trimming, a trade he knew inside and out. Outside of work, he found joy in simple but meaningful adventures. He loved his dogs deeply, cherished time spent at the Lake Whitney dam, and never lost his thrill for cliff-jumping or cruising across the water on his jet ski. Those who knew Steve would often describe him as stubborn and ornery, yet beneath that tough exterior was a man who loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Jack Traylor; his mother, Betty "Eddings" Birdwell; his stepfather, Jerry Birdwell; his daughter, Kelli Traylor; and his brother, George "Tommy" Traylor.
He is survived by his son, Steven Traylor, Jr., and his wife, Andrea; his daughter, Jessica "Traylor" Willis, and her husband, John Wesley Willis; his stepmother, Shirley Traylor; siblings Richard Traylor and Lisa Myrick; and his beloved grandchildren, Caroline "Traylor" Hood and Jack Willis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve's name to Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels, a tribute that reflects his lifelong love for animals.
