Stephen Ray
Seese
Sep 1, 1948 — Jun 27, 2023
Stephen Ray Seese, 74, of Prosper, Texas, passed away on June 27, 2023 in McKinney, Texas.
Steve was born in Amarillo, TX to Merton George Seese and Nannie Ruth Sawrie on September 1, 1948. While growing up in Oak Cliff, Steve was quite a handful and by his sophomore year at Sunset High School he was strongly encouraged to join the military. In 1965 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Gunners Mate during the Vietnam War until 1968. He married the love of his life Deborah Lynn Casey on December 5, 1969, at Tyler Street United Methodist Church (TSUMC) in Dallas, and it was here where they would raise their children and lead many to Christ. During his time at TSUMC Steve also served as Chairman of the Community Services Outreach program. While working numerous jobs Steve decided to enroll at the University of Texas at Arlington where he received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1990. For the next 20 years he held the title of Director of Planning and Zoning for several cities in the State of Texas. While working as Director of Planning and Zoning in Wichita Falls, TX he obtained his Master's degree at Midwestern State University in 1996. In his spare time, he was an Adjunct Professor for Vernon Regional Junior College at Sheppard Air Force Base. He also served as President on the Child Advocate Board of Directors in Wichita Falls. Steve was blessed to retire in 2012 after many years of hard work and dedication. His greatest joy was spending the day at the lake on his boat enjoying life.
Steve is preceded in death by his father Merton George Seese and his mother Nan Ruth Sawrie.
Steve leaves behind his wife, Debbie, daughters Michelle Whatley (Michael) and Jamie Wheat (Terry) brother Scott Seese (Marcia). Grandchildren Nicholas Whatley (Ashley), Jake Wheat, Michaela Whatley, Ashley Wheat, Madison Kay (Jay Cash) and Brayden Smith. Great Grandsons Greyson and Axton Cash and Nash Whatley.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
