Santos Gonzales Moreno, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2026. She was born on July 18, 1942, in Bishop, Texas, to Jose and Faviana Gonzales.

Santos was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a beloved family member and friend to many.

Throughout her life, Santos held a variety of jobs. As a young adult, she worked in a button factory and later in a raincoat factory, where she performed quality control. She went on to work as a cafeteria employee for Braniff International. Eventually, she found her true calling in education, teaching Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language. She also served as a Teaching Assistant with the Dallas Independent School District, where she took great pride in helping others learn and succeed.

Santos found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, traveling, participating in her church and senior group activities, and enjoying trips to the casino. She generously volunteered at her church, with her senior group, and at her great-granddaughter's school. Wherever she went, she made new friends with ease. She welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness and was always ready to share a meal.

Those who knew Santos will remember her as prayerful, loving, joyful, grateful, lively, friendly, generous, and delightfully feisty. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making others laugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio A. Moreno; her parents, Jose and Faviana Gonzales; and her siblings, Raul Gonzales, Maria Sandlin, Dora Gonzales, Domingo Camacho, Juan Camacho, and Pantillian Camacho.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Maria and Gilbert Sanchez; Juan and Denise De La Cruz; Oscar and Molly De La Cruz; Christina and Mark Bowling; Mireya De La Cruz and Andre Vaezi; Juanita Westphal and Adrian Casarez; and Omar Moreno. She is also survived by her sister, Graciela Lemmond; her many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as cherished extended family members and countless dear friends.

Santos's beautiful smile, joyful spirit, and generous heart will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Cockrell Hill United Methodist Church in honor of Santos's life and legacy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Jeter and Son Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, followed by a committal and inurnment service at 11:30 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
