Obituary

Santos Jesus Garcia passed away surrounded by the love and memories of a family who will deeply miss him.

From an early age, Santos was active and involved, participating in football, track, band, Spanish Club, and the Catholic Youth Organization. His early interest in aircraft mechanics led to line service positions at Amarillo International Airport and Robert Mueller Municipal Airport in Austin.

Santos proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He earned his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Texas and his Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. He retired as a Spanish teacher from Denton Independent School District. Following retirement, he pursued doctoral studies in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington, where his dissertation work focused on recovery, a subject that held both personal and professional meaning for him.

Santos's journey was not without challenges, but he faced them with determination and perseverance. Through life's experiences, he learned that the game of life was not always easy, and that a man's true character is revealed through adversity. He continued moving forward, remained committed to personal growth, and demonstrated a strong work ethic that was evident in the fruits of his labor.

Those who knew Santos will remember his generous spirit, compassionate nature, and genuine willingness to help anyone in need. He gave freely of himself and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.

Santos was the son of the late Jose Arturo Garcia and Maria Lucia Garcia. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jose Arturo Garcia, Jr. and Ramon Garcia. He is survived by his son, Bartholomew O. Garcia; his daughter, Janessa NikaNorra Keller Garcia; and his only granddaughter, Adriah Ann Garcia. He is also survived by his brother, Moises E. Garcia and his wife, Sara G. Garcia; his sister, Delia Porter and her husband, Bobby Porter; and his sister, Mary Garcia Correa and her husband, JR Correa; along with their children and extended family.

A proud Army veteran, visitation will be at the Funeral Home Thursday October 1, 2026 from 2:00-6:00 PM. Santos will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors, Friday October 2, 2026 at 9:30 AM
