Robert D. Waybright
March 11, 1926 - March 19, 2023
Robert Dale Waybright was born March 11, 1926 and passed away March 19, 2023 at the age of 97.
Robert Dale was born to James Robert and Edith Mariah Waybright in Charleston, WV. He served his country with honors in the US Army and came home to begin work on a BA in History at Asbury College. While there he married his sweetheart, Helen Joy Vernon. They were married for over 68 years and raised six children together before her passing in 2016. Robert Dale was the co-owner of Waybright Booksellers along with his wife Joy and together they spent over 50 years building the business by supplying churches and individuals with furnishings and Christian books and Bibles. He was a skilled carpenter and electrician and an avid reader and used his history degree to delve into genealogy research, studying the family tree as far back as he was able. He meticulously logged all the information into albums and shared them with those that were interested. He was also a Gideon and enjoyed working to see that God's word was distributed to the world.
He loved gardening and spent many hours making sure his tomato plants got tender loving care. And along with his passion for reading and gardening, he also enjoyed honing his computer skills.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many who will miss him dearly. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sister, Harriet Waybright of Aiken SC, daughters Evangeline Waybright, Sherrie Larmon, Joydale and husband Mike Plemons, Laurie and husband Jon Edgell and Cindy and husband Terry Gambrel along with one son Robert Waybright and wife Tabatha. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents James Robert and Edith Mariah Waybright, his wife Helen Joy Waybright, two sisters and one brother, and a great grandson Jackson Edgell.
