Robert Carrizales
April 20, 1952 - December 6, 2025
We gather to honor and celebrate the life of Robert "Bob" Carrizales, born on April 20, 1952, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Alicia and Roberto Carrizales. When he was just four years old, his family moved to Texas—a place that would shape his future and become the home where he built a life full of love, service, and devotion.
At the age of eighteen, Robert made a courageous and selfless decision to join the United States Army, where he went on to serve his country in the Vietnam War. His bravery and commitment to protecting others would continue to define the rest of his life.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Alicia and Robert Carrizales; his son, Eric Carrizales; his grandson, Tayo Carrizales; and his son-in-law, Richard Canady.
He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Charlene Carrizales, and his bonus children—Marcie Green, Misty Canady, and David Simon. He is also survived by his granddaughters Felicia Avant and Haleigh Avant; his sisters Adriana (Diane) Carrizales, Ana (Betty) Carrizales, and Dolores Carrizales (Loly) Ibe and her husband Ed; his brother Javier (Jay) Carrizales and his wife Alice; his sister Irene Carrizales (Rena) and her husband Manuel Najera and his close niece Rosie Gonzalez and husband Gino. Beyond his immediate family, Robert leaves countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched deeply.
Robert had a great love for many things—animals, history, and especially music. When he picked up his guitar, you never knew what song would come next. Maybe it would be Latino music that reminded him of his roots, or a little Kenny Rogers, Bob Dylan, or perhaps even some Led Zeppelin. His music was a reflection of his spirit: wide-ranging, passionate, and filled with heart.
But more than anything else, Robert loved his family. He was their hero, their foundation, and the steady presence they could always count on. Their "Superman". If there is one word that captures who Robert was, it would be devoted. He was a devoted husband, a devoted son and brother, devoted to his country, and devoted to his 34-year career with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring.
Robert lived a life of integrity, loyalty, and deep love. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that his story doesn't end here. Bob has simply traded in his cape for a pair of wings.
