Obituary

Ricky Martin Medrano-Hernandez was born on August 4th, 2000 in Fort Worth,TX; son of Irma Juarez and Alfonso Juarez. He was the youngest of the bunch, the baby of the family. Ricky was a loving son, the favorite brother, a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, an honorable Soldier who always had your back, and a friend to anyone he met. He passed away on December 4th,2025 at the age of 25.

Growing up, Ricky was always up to something, whether he was playing with his toy cars, hitting the trampoline with his siblings and cousins, or making a run to the back store for snacks.

Ricky was just one of those people who made friends everywhere he went. He was outgoing, witty, radiant, and had a way of treating everyone with respect. Honestly, he had a habit of turning total strangers into family. If you knew him back then, you remember him for his sense of humor, his huge heart, and the way he always made sure you felt welcome.

2014 at Everman High School, everything changed for Ricky because that's where he met the love of his life, Kimberly Medrano. They were high school sweethearts who stayed by each other's side as Ricky joined the military in 2018 and they began their journey into adulthood together. They got married January 2019 when he returned from his basic training at Fort Jackson and before he had his first overseas deployment to South Korea. They began their life together when he returned and was moved to Colorado Fort Carson in 2020, where they welcomed their daughter, Emilia Medrano in 2021. They were inseparable, a team, he had his girls always by his side for unconditional love and support. Later moving to Washington in 2023, always ready for the next adventure his life would take him. June of 2025 him and his family moved to North Carolina where he passed away.

Ricky was an honorable, hardworking soldier. Always ready to take on any task and exceeding expectations. He was always pushing himself to be the best, in his work, friendship, family, and at the gym, getting swole for the gains. If you didnt know him for his character, you knew him for his physical strength. He was an aspiring Pilot, which was his dream job and was looking forward to going back to college for his associates degree.

Some things about Ricky; if you knew him you knew his love for the gym & carne asada fries! Everywhere he moved, no matter which state, his priority was to find the best gym and the best carne asada fries. So far the best carne asada fries by far, according to Ricky, are from a little restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His favorite drink was a Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, he would literally go inside restaurants and order that soda just to get endless free refills. His favorite fast food spots were, of course, Taco Bell, Chipotle, and Culvers. His favorite color was orange because he once owned a 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona in the color Go Mango. His dream car being a 2001 Lexus IS 300 but he settled and adored his 2010 Lexus IS 350. If you knew Ricky, you knew his car. He absolutely loved his car like his own child, but of course nothing could replace the love he has for his baby girl, Emilia. Ricky was very bold, he was no chicken, give him any dare and he'd most likely do it. Dare him to eat the spiciest level of wings, he'd do it. Dare him to get a tattoo, he got it. His unit in North Carolina had a 1000lb challenge and yours truly, Staff Sergeant Ricky Medrano, did just that and came out on the top of the challenge. Because of this achievement, strong bond and irreplaceable role with his unit, they will be renaming the challenge "SSG Medranos 1000 pound club" as well as the units fitness center to SSG Medrano Fitness Center.

Since his passing Ricky has been posthumously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, a prestigious U.S. military award for outstanding non-combat achievement or exceptional meritorious service.

He was always going above and beyond, from his work, to friendships, and his family.

Ricky will be missed and never forgotten. He was the warmth in all of our lives. Until we meet again...
