Rebecca Avila, 75, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. She was born on May 6, 1950, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Rebecca Anguiano and Pedro Reyes.
Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and lively spirit touched everyone who knew her. She shared 57 loving years of marriage with her husband, Alfred Avila. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and enduring love. She loved her husband deeply and faithfully, and her adoration for him was a constant throughout her life.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her mother Rebecca Anguiano; father Pedro Reyes; sister Lydia Anguiano; brother Sam Jr. Anguiano and brother-in-law Joe Alvarez.
She is survived by her husband Alfred Avila; daughter, Yvonne Avila of Dallas, son Andy Avila and wife Julie of McKinney; her grandchildren Aaron, Alfred, Alex and husband Murphy, and Evan; as well as her great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Ava, and little Aaron; her sisters Sarah, Sammie and husband Gasper, Connie, Yolanda and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends all of whom will carry forward her legacy of joy and connection. Pallbearers are Aaron, Alfred, Evan, Nathan, Giovanni, Sergio, and Anthony.
Rebecca was known for her vibrant personality and her love of life's simple pleasures. She especially enjoyed trips to the casino and had a special fondness for Las Vegas. She was fun and engaging, often found chatting on the phone and relished in visiting with friends and family. She was deeply proud of her grandchildren and unwavering in her support of them; she found great joy in sharing stories that reflected her love for family. Her ability to connect with others and bring a smile to their faces will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Jeter & Son Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. A committal service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on April 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
Rebecca's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
