Paul Barrington Taylor

July 19, 1943  ~  September 24, 2022

Paul Barrington Taylor was born on July 19, 1943, in the parish of Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, to Winnifred & Arthur Taylor. He joined his Lord & Savior on September 24, 2022.

Paul met Karleen Sanguinetti, his wife of 57 years, in Kingston, Jamaica.  They were married on August 21, 1965, at Bethany Gospel Hall in Kingston, Jamaica. Karleen & Paul honeymooned at the 1965 World's Fair in New York…and decided to build their lives and family in the USA.  Paul became a naturalized United States Citizen in 1970.

After the births of Robert, then Jeffrey, Karleen & Paul moved their family to Miami, Florida, where Paul began a career in insurance with Mutual of Omaha.  He was a natural salesman and quickly achieved Chairman's Council, Paul also taught at Florida Bible College in Hollywood, Florida, and was encouraged by Dr. Chuck Swindoll to pursue his Th.D. at Dallas Theological Seminary. They welcomed their third son, Andrew, in the Fall of 1972, and their youngest son, Mark, at the beginning of 1974.  Karleen & Paul were now the very proud parents of four boys.

In 1980, Karleen & Paul moved their family from Miami to Dallas, Texas.  Soon after visiting First Baptist Church Dallas, Dr. W.A. Criswell encouraged Paul to lead and teach Sunday services at Dallas County Restitution Center in 1984. In 1988, Paul received his Certificate of Ordination and became a Deacon at First Baptist Church Dallas. Karleen & Paul founded Ambassador International Ministries and received 501(c)(3) status in 1992, a ministry dedicated to satisfying the medical needs of international students in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. A.I.M. eventually grew to satisfying the medical needs of the unfortunate and underserved around the globe! Paul received his Master of Arts from Criswell College on December 9, 1999.  And in May 2013, thirty-three years after Paul moved to Dallas, he received his Doctor of Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Paul never met a stranger, everyone was his "good friend".

Paul is survived by his wife, Karleen Taylor of Dallas; his three sons and their spouses: Erline & Robert Taylor of Frisco; Minna & Jeffrey Taylor of Dallas; Casey & Andrew Taylor of Allen; and Rebecca Taylor of Dallas; his twelve grandchildren: Ivy Adair, Coleman, Olivia, Emma, Maxwell, London, Caleb, Isaac, Ava Kate, Grace, Nathan, and Jacob.

Paul is preceded in death by his youngest son, Douglas Mark Taylor.

Service

We founded Ambassador International Ministries in 1984 and began medical mission trips to Jamaica soon after.  I have always had empathy for single mothers and the welfare of children. I grew up in a Christian family.  My Dad had a brilliant mind, he was my hero!  He taught me so much about the Bible and faith…I thought he was a modern day Solomon. When I was 12, my Dad moved to England with the promise of bringing his entire family to London…I would not see him for 28 years. I learned about hope from my Mother.  Dad taught me about faith, but my Mom lived it. One of her favorite hymns was What a Friend We Have in Jesus, another was Sweet Hour Of Prayer.  Her hope was fixed on the promise of God. It was a certain and guaranteed hope because it depended on the very character of God. In 1994, I conducted my Dad's funeral in London and had the joy of leading my sister & her Husband to Christ.  I have come to love the word hope. The principles I observed in the life of my mother, eventually allowed me to love my dad.  It is the formula for water, H2O.

Honesty - Relationship with others

Humility - Relationship with God

Obedience - Relationship with God's Word (the Bible)

We must realize that all of life is lived in the context of relationships.  Christianity is a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. I witnessed these principles in my Mother's daily life, saw her endure, and learned her hope was a living one…because it was the anchor of her faith. Because of that, I could love.
