Patricia Marie (Williams) Gaines

Patricia Marie (Williams) Gaines at the age of 74 passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, September 4, 2023.


Patricia, a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma was born on February 18, 1949 in Talihina, OK to Moses and Helen (Bohanan) Williams. She graduated from Wright City High School then proceeded to earn a Secretarial and Accountant Certification from Haskell Institute in 1969. Upon graduation she was employed with the Department of Treasury until marriage.


She married Rev. Melvin Gaines on June 6, 1970 while he was serving in the United States Air Force. While he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was employed with the Army Tripler Hospital. After his honorable discharge, they moved to Kansas City, MO where they resided until 1997. She retired as a Government Employee in 1995. As an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Oklahoma Sooners fan, she enjoyed attending sports events, Gospel Singings, and following her husband throughout his ministry. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids.


She is preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and her sister Joanne Williams Dalby.


She is survived by daughters, Crystalynn Rogers and husband Harold of Grand Prairie, TX; Tami Steen and husband Greg of Lawton, OK; and son, Aaron Gaines and wife Wendy of Oklahoma. Sisters, Wanda Frazier of Broken Bow, Ok; and June Williams of Eagletown, OK. Sister-in-law Adell Hopper and husband Mike of Norman, OK. She has 7 grandchildren, Erik, AJ, Jared, Courtney, Tucker, Joseph, Brooklyn, and Ashton; 4 great grandchildren, Kona, Vergil, Caelum, and Tillian. She has numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and her beloved puppy, Carmela.


In remembrance of Patricia Gaines, we reflect on a life that was well lived, a woman deeply loved, and a soul that touched so many. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit lives on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Jeter & Son Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Bowser Family Funeral Home, 500 N. Park Dr, Broken Bow, OK 74728. Graveside service and interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Choctaw Veterans Cemetery, Council House Rd, Tuskahoma, OK 74574.
