Patricia "Pat"
B. Vaughan
Apr 14, 1943 — Jun 28, 2022
Patricia B. ("Pat") Vaughan, 79, went home to be with Jesus on June 28, 2022.
She was a very kind and caring person. She had a strong work ethic, was very organized, and retired from The Dallas Morning News after 25 years, where she enjoyed throwing gala parties for corporate sponsors. Pat was a social butterfly who loved to entertain. She was passionate about her faith and started a Bible study at the News. Pat was also a breast cancer survivor for over 20 years.
Later in life, she was enthusiastic about selling Mary Kay and used that opportunity to form new friendships. She was also very creative and loved making beautiful jewelry with her husband using antique silverware. Pat was a board member of Big Thought, educating Young Audiences about the opera and taking them to see operas. After retiring from the News, she educated many school children about life in the 19 th century, giving tours of pioneer and Victorian homes at Dallas Heritage Village.
Pat was preceded in death by her second husband, William E. ("Billie") Vaughan; her first husband, Gaylon Shiel; her mother, Joyce Bonnell; and her father, J. Eugene Bonnell. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette West and Kathryn ("Trina") Pearl; her brother, Michael Bonnell; granddaughter, Jax Irby; step-sons, Cedric Vaughan and Minor Vaughan; step-daughters, Wandalyn Latham, Madeleine Waddell, Heather Clark, Amy Wurm, Monica Vaughan and Lilah Stone; as well as 16 step-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pat's loving and compassionate caregivers, especially Olivia, Nancy, Cheryl, everyone at The Echelon, and her Hospice care team.
