Opal Mae Sellars

June 16, 1948 – October 7, 2022

Opal Mae Sellars was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on October 7th, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. She was 74 years old.

She was born to Lester and Leona Hyatt on June 16, 1948. She met and married her husband, James Sellars on January 12th, 1967. Together, they had and raised 6 children: Ray, Kayla, Lester, Ruth, Robin, and Joel.

Opal was an avid reader and was a trivia guru. She loved to answer Jeopardy questions before the contestants. She was very compassionate and loved her work at the nursing home.

Opal is survived by her husband James; 5 of her children; Kayla and her spouse Chuck, Lester, Ruth Ann, Robin and Joel; 4 sisters; Mildred, Annette, Janette, Linda and her spouse Willie; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona; father, Lester; and son Ray.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00pm on Thursday, October 13th at Jeter & Son Funeral Home in Dallas Texas.
