Obituary

Nellie Angeline Adams Brodner, 88, passed away with her 4 children by her side on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. We lost a wonderful woman that day but we bet there was one heck of a welcoming committee, led by her husband of 64 years, Robert (Bob) Irving Brodner, as well as her parents, sisters, brothers, nephews, best friend and two grandchildren, Matthew and Cleo, along with a number of other family members and friends. Nellie is survived by her 4 children, son Sam & Leigh Brodner, daughter Kelly Brodner, son Robert D & Lisa Brodner and daughter Karrie Brodner Avila. Grandchildren Adam Lee Brodner & Alex Lopez, Emily & Jonathan Sofian, Robert (RC) Brodner, Anthony & Kaylynn Brodner, Christopher Brodner, Samual (Sammy) & Jennifer Brodner, and Robert (Bobby) & Holly Brodner. Great Grandchildren, Sophie & Jude Brodner, Josiah Brodner, Marlowe Angeline Sofian, and one arriving in January, as well as adored nieces, nephews and two sister-in-laws. She is also survived by her chosen family, Donna Wallace, Hollis, Shannon & Stella Sellman and Vanessa, Crys & Ofelia Compozano.

Nellie was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on September 29, 1936 to Tressie Angeline & Elbert Cleo Adams. She was the youngest of seven children. She worked as a telephone operator in Ardmore and that is where she met Bob. He was stationed at the Air Force base in Ardmore. They moved to Texas in the early sixties. Nellie was a stay-at-home mom and loved being a wife and mother. She also loved it when she was promoted to Grandma and Great Grandma. After her youngest, Karrie, started school, she began working for the Dallas Independent School District, first as an aide and later as a secretary. She was extremely involved in her children's lives serving as a Room Mother, Den Mother, held various positions in the PTA including President, and worked in many Vacation Bible Schools. She was also a staunch supporter of her children's and grandchildren's extracurricular activities which included sports, theater, choir, band, Scouts, dance, cheerleading, drill team and more.

Nellie lived a life of caring, sharing and serving, putting others before herself. She was a strong Christian woman who taught her children and grandchildren about God and was one of the strongest prayer warriors, especially for her family, that you would ever meet. She always wanted to feed, care for and just "Mother" anyone she came in contact with. Once you were in her heart, you were there to stay. Nellie was extremely creative and talented. From her sewing, ceramics, crafting, cake decorating to her greatness in the kitchen - she was amazing! She was a strong advocate for herself when it came to the medical world. When necessary, Nellie reminded doctors that there was not an expiration date stamped on her feet so they were to take excellent care of her, regardless of her age.

Although we are broken hearted and mourn our loss, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is in heaven with our Lord and Savior. Nellie loved her family and friends and her prayers were that we would all accept Jesus into our hearts so that one day we would all be reunited in God's Kingdom.

Services will be held on Monday January 6, 2025, at 1:30pm at Jeter and Son Funeral Home, 4830 W Illinois Ave, Dallas, TX 75211. Nellie will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery with her husband.
