Dr. Mary Louise Campbell

July 22, 2941 - November 17, 2022

Dr. Mary Louise Campbell, Ph.D., was born in Dallas, Texas to her parents, June (McIntosh) and J.R. Holt, July 22, 1941. She went home to be with her Lord Jesus November 17, 2022. She is survived by her husband, John C. Campbell, Jr. son Stephen Campbell and wife Rebecca, two grandchildren, Colin and Brenna, brother John Holt, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dr. Campbell received her bachelor's degree from North Texas State University, her master's degree from Southern Methodist University, and her doctorate from Texas Woman's University. A lifelong learner and educator, she founded Lighthouse Christian Academy and went on to teach at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) from 1993 to 2009. During her tenure at SAGU, Dr. Campbell held positions of Chair, Department of Education, and Chair, Graduate Department of Education. Her leadership led directly to the department achieving regional and national recognition for excellence.

Mary was an avid painter her entire life. Her home studio is replete with her works with genres ranging from landscapes and portraiture to multimedia abstract artwork. Her paintings are displayed in The Lighthouse Church and the Baylor Scott & White hospital in Waxahachie, Texas. She is recognized as a Choctaw Registered Artist by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Mary has been a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church from her childhood. John and Mary both taught numerous Bible studies with topics ranging from guidance to young married couples to in-depth exegeses of God's Word.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the "Dr. Mary L. Campbell Scholarship, SAGU Foundation," or using the link:
