Martin Q. Cantu was born on November 9th, 1942 in Lockhart, Texas, to Roman and Felipa Cantu. Martin passed away on August 7th, 2023 peacefully at his home in Athens, Texas.
Martin met his wife Nellie when they were just children in Dallas, Texas, and they were married in 1959. Martin served his country in the Army National Guard before entering into the printing industry. He loved fishing, watching his Texas Longhorns play and Audie Murphy western movies. You could often hear him talking about his love of cars and his favorite dogs. He could be described as a hardworking man who loved his family and being outdoors.
Martin was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roman and Felipa Cantu and several of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nellie Cantu; daughter, Melinda Adams; son, Martin Cantu, Jr.; son Gabriel Cantu and wife, Maribel; and his two granddaughters, Victoria Adams and Anna Wentzel.
Services will be on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Jeter & Son Chapel, 4830 W. Illinois Ave, Dallas, Texas
Visitation from 11:00AM - 12:00PM with a Liturgy of the Word beginning at 12:00 noon.
Burial with military honors will follow at Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery.
