Mario Ybarra Alonzo

Mario Y. Alonzo was born October 25, 1951, in Dallas, Texas to Martin G. Alonzo and Beatrice Ybarra Alonzo. He was raised on Hondo, street in the barrio. He attended St. Ann's School, Rusk Middle School, Crozier Tech High School where he was in R.O.T.C. and continued his education at North Dallas High School.

He joined the Army in 1971 where he served his 4 years. He was stationed in Germany for 2 years. Received National Defense Service Medal. He proudly served his country and returned to Dallas in 1975.

Mario was a man of many titles, a father, a son, a brother, grandfather, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend. A fighter, a survivor, and a provider of love and strength for his family. He loved listening to old school music. He loved to gamble Any opportunity to head North to the casinos and play on any football pot.

Mario is survived by his two sons: Martin N. Alonzo, Marciano Y Alonzo. His brother Gilbert Alonzo and sister Gloria Alonzo.  Seven grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Mario Y. Alonzo Jr. His father Martin G. Alonzo, mother Beatrice Y. Alonzo.

Mario, you have gone home to be with your son and your parents.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 4:30 PM on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Jeter & Son Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the funeral home. Military Honors and Interment will follow at Dallas Fort Wort National Cemetery.
