Marilyn Joann
Jones
Nov 4, 1952 — Jun 10, 2024
In Warmest Remembrance of
Marilyn Jones
Marilyn Joann (Dyer) Jones, 71, of Richardson, Texas, met her Lord and Savior on June 10th, 2024. She was born on November 4th, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Ryan Cox, daughter Stacy Fuqua, son-in-law Matthew Fuqua, and her brother Joe Dyer, as well as six beloved grandchildren, Easton, Bowen, and Shelby Cox and Arden, Elliott, and Gibson Fuqua. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Robert "J.R." Jones, her sister Anna Jo Scott, and her parents.
Marilyn was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas where she had also previously served ten years on staff in the business office. At death, Marilyn was the President of the Richardson Republican Women and the Treasurer of the Fellowship of Professional Women. She was a real estate agent with Ebby Halliday REALTORS at their 190 office, was on the MLS committee of the MetroTex Association of REALTORS, and was the Garland Area MLS Representative from 2020 to 2023.
Aside from all of this, she enjoyed playing Bridge at the Richardson Civic Center and had a special place in her heart for her late husband's U.S. Army buddies in the Casper Aviation Platoon Organization in which she loved staying active.
Marilyn expected a lot but gave everything in return. Having attended Baylor University and graduating from Azusa Pacific College (now University) in 1976, she obtained a bachelor's degree in English and would have insisted on proofreading this very obituary prior to its publication, had she not passed unexpectedly. While she was not perfect, Marilyn lived life well and most importantly had placed her faith and trust in Jesus Christ and his death and resurrection and now rests in perfect peace with him. She was loved by many and touched all and until we see her again, she will be thought of often and dearly missed including by her golden retriever Missy, and her cat Lady Di, whom she both treasured.
Marilyn will be celebrated at the First Baptist Church of Dallas (Historic Sanctuary) on Monday, June 24th, 2024. A visitation will be held at 10:30am with service at 11:30am and a reception to follow. A graveside service will be held at the DFW National Cemetery at 2:30pm. All are welcome to attend and encouraged to come dressed in bright and bold colors of spring and summer.
In lieu of flowers, you may honor Marilyn by donating to the church that she loved and served, First Baptist Church Dallas, or donate to our veterans at Wounded Warrior Project .
