Maria De La Luz Munoz, 68, of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico, passed away April 26, 2023, in Dallas, TX surrounded by family.

Maria was born on October 29, 1954, in El Tepetate del Gallo in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico to Estanislada Galvan and Victor Munoz. She grew up with 2 sisters and 4 brothers in her family home.

As a 25-year-old single mother, she immigrated to the United States in August of 1980 with her 3 daughters and son to pursue better opportunities for herself and her children. She worked many different jobs throughout the years with long hours to be able to provide for her family. She was a determined and hardworking mother who had to overcome the challenges of being alone in an unfamiliar country. Even with all the diversity she faced, she went on to raise 6 successful children who then eventually gave her 22 grand children and 2 great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, karaoke, picnics, playing baseball, watching soccer, storytelling, cheering on her grandchildren at their sport events, and traveling to Mexico.

She was preceded by her parents, Estanislada Galvan and Victor Munoz, and her siblings, Reyes Munoz, Andres Munoz, Fidel Munoz, and Teresa Munoz Nunez.

She is survived by her brother Nicolas Munoz and her sister Maria Elena Munoz, her children, Sylvia Lopez, Alfredo Munoz, Martha Nuon, Rosa Rueda, Carmen Reyes, and Miguel Munoz.
