Maria Amparo
Carrillo
Apr 6, 1954 — Jan 17, 2024
Maria Amparo Carrillo, age 69 of Espinal, Colombia, passed away from a short but hard fought battle with pleural mesothelioma on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, in her home in Cedar Hill, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
Amparo was born to Maria del Carmen Carrillo in 1954 in Colombia. After finishing her studies, equipped with an adventurous spirit and a love for her country, she embarked on a job as an immigration officer which moved her to several cities in Colombia, including one of her favorites, San Andres Islands, before settling in Bogota. In 2001, always keeping her son in mind, Amparo decided to move to Florida to provide better opportunities for him. A few years later, she met the love of her life, Jack Paris. Shortly after, they moved to Dallas, Texas. It did not take long for Amparo to embrace the Texan lifestyle; she loved BBQ, rodeo, bluebonnets, country dancing. Whether taking visitors to Billy Bob's or Fort Worth Stockyards, Amparo enjoyed sharing her new home. She loved traveling, attending concerts with her music loving husband, romcom movies, and the pride of her life, her son.
She was an avid cook who loved entertaining and hosting family and friends; her culinary delights included many Colombian dishes, and her well-known chocolate cake and lemon pie. Amparo was devoted to her family and friends, and always ready to extend a helping hand.
Amparo was a loving and dedicated wife, mom, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her son, Jose; and her sister Blanca Devia.
