Obituary

Margarita G. Cantu, 87, of Red Oak, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. Born on September 26, 1938, in Kato, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of Gonzalo and Ofelia Gomez. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Margarita dedicated her life to her family and home, where she was known for her warmth, generosity, and the best homemade tortillas anyone could remember.

In her 61 beautiful years of marriage to her husband, Antonio Cantu, Margarita built a strong and loving family foundation. Together, they raised four daughters, creating countless cherished memories filled with laughter, love, and tradition.

Margarita found joy in life's simple pleasures—she loved shopping and sharing time with loved ones. Her kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her, and her home was always open to family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Antonio Cantu; daughters Mary Gomez, Brenda Cantu, and Gloria Gonzales; son in laws Rick Gomez and Fernando Gonzales; her sister, Dora Lesa; brother, Gonzalo "Cowboy" Gomez; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who will carry her memory forward. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Francis Munoz and granddaughter Priscilla Munoz.

Margarita will be missed by all who loved her.

A memorial service will be 11:30AM Friday February 6, 2026 at Jeter & Son Chapel, with inurnment to follow at 1:00PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
