Obituary

Margaret Mendez

July 9, 1964 – May 5, 2023

Margie was born in Dallas, Texas on July 9, 1964, the first child of proud parents Richard and Connie Oliva. Margie was married to Gerardo Mendez, and leaves behind Gerardo Jr, Roxanne, Ashley, and Lizette Mendez.

Margie was the oldest of 6 siblings and quickly became the ringleader and fearless protector for her brothers and sisters Diana, Richard, Sandra, Hector and Liza.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Mia, Giovanni, Sarah, Marc and Ariya.  You could see the love and joy on her face when she talked about them. They brought her deep happiness.

Margie had a true love and appreciation for fun times with family and friends. She loved to have people over or go out and dance, laugh and watch the Cowboys and Mavericks games. Margie had more people consider her their best friend than most people could ever imagine, she was the life of the party! She called herself 'Margarita Tequila' and her family would also call her 'Gina' and 'La Vida Loca'. Margie would love to greet you with what we lovingly call the Margie mark, which was leaving a kiss on your cheek and forehead with her famous red lipstick.

Margie was a fighter until the very end because she didn't want to leave her children behind. She took her last breath surrounded by her loving children, sisters and brother in laws, brother and sister-in-law Diana and Mike Vandiford, Richard and Arlene Oliva, Sandra and Daniel Rosales, Liza and Jeremy Kane, loving aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. God called her home on May 5, 2023 to join her mother Connie Oliva, her father Richard Ray Oliva and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
