Obituary

Marcelino Orellana

June 1, 1953 - November 16, 2023

Marcelino Orellana (Marce to his friends) was born in Morales, Guatemala on June 1, 1953, and passed away from a brief, acute illness on November 16, 2023, in Dallas, TX.

Marcelino grew up in Bananera, Guatemala in a big, loving family. In the early 70's, he moved to the United States and later became a U.S. citizen. He met and married Sandra McDaniel on April 7th, 1984, in Dallas, TX. After stints in several industries, he found his calling in automotive sales where he flourished for over 30 years, the last 20 serving with the Sewell family of dealerships. Marce never met a stranger which added to his success in automotive sales. "My friend" was his term for his beloved co-workers and customers, many of whom bought cars from him for years.

Marcelino was a lifelong soccer fan, spending much of his free time watching the English Premiere League, World Cup, and rooting for his favorite, the Argentina National team. He was a member at First Baptist Church of Dallas for many years where he enjoyed many friends in the Growing in Faith Sunday School class. Over the last twenty years, Marce's faith grew extensively, and he was often encouraging and praying for his family, friends, and customers. Marce had a strong faith and was sure of the hope he had through his salvation in Jesus Christ, and he would want you to have that same assurance.

Marcelino is preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Ercilia Orellana, his brother Justo and sister Julia. He is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Angelica Orellana and husband Jay, and daughter-in-law and stepson Cathleen and David McDaniel; grandchildren Jonathan, Christian, AnnaKate (and husband Aron), Luke, Molly, and Bo and great granddaughter Jane; sisters and brothers-in-law Olga and Freddy Lozano and Lety and Edgar Martinez; nephews and nieces Danilo & Sonia (Amy, Andy, and Adrian), Aldo (Aldo Jr. and Ian), Mildred, Jimmy, Stephanie, Rosana & Adail (Juliana), Luis Antonio & Amber (Ariyah), Adelky & Gabriella (Sandy), Jonathan, & Aaron), Elisa and Josue.

Marcelino's memorial service will be on Sunday, November 26th at 3:30 PM at Jeter & Sons Funeral Home, 4830 W. Illinois Ave., Dallas, TX 75211. Visitation for friends and family will be from 2:00 – 3:30 PM prior to the memorial service.
