Larry Wallace
Ross
Oct 3, 1963 — May 30, 2026
Larry was born in Jacksonville, Arkansas on October 3rd, 1963 and gained his wings on May 30th, 2026 ( though he liked to say he came to Texas as fast as he could). As a husband, father, son, friend, and musician, Larry was truly one of kind, he loved the Lord and had the most admiration for his wife, children and grandchildren.
Larry had a goofy nature about him that made you laugh, and shared his whole heart with those he loved. He lived his life as a free spirit and would sing and dance like no-one was watching. His life was filled with purpose, even when he couldn't see it himself. Music was just one of his many love languages, and he would often describe himself as an old hippy. He dreamed of becoming a musician, and he cherished every opportunity to live that dream. Music wasn't just something he did—it was a part of who he was, and you could see that every time he performed. He didn't just hear the music; he connected with it in a way that brought energy and joy to everyone around him. Larry also taught his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends the same love for music. It will forever be ingrained in their hearts.
From his early days in the MHS Choral to performing with the group Kantorei, Larry's voice and rhythm were constants. He was introduced to the bass guitar by his friend Shannon in 2007, that unlocked a new world of pure joy. That spark led him to form several bands, including Sabrina and Gypsy Bleu, Stratakats, Rowdy Drive, Hashtag, and ForeverMac. Whether he was dancing, singing, or playing his music loud enough to rattle the windows, he lived with energy.
While music was one of his greatest passions, football was another that shaped so many of his early years and memories. His love for football began at a young age and stayed with him throughout his life. From playing Peewee football to becoming a standout running back at Mesquite High School, the game brought him joy, purpose, and lifelong memories. Years later, he passed that love on to others when he coached his own select team, the Hurricanes, named after his favorite college team.
After graduating in 1982, he proudly answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed at the United States Army Field Station Kunia in Hawaii, where he spent four formative years and formed lifelong bonds with men who became brothers to him.
Following his military career, Larry built a life in telecommunications. As he often said with a smile,"I bounced around the country building the internet." It was during this time he met the love of his life, Chrystel. They spent 25 years building a beautiful life together and raising two wonderful children, Maddelyne and Alexander.
Among all his roles, as husband, father, son, friend, and musician none brought him more joy than being a Pop Pop. He loved his grandchildren more than life itself, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Larry was also a man with many loves: the outdoors, his obsession with the lawn, ferns and palm tree was unreal and spectacular to witness. But above all, he loved his family and the Lord. His faith was the anchor of his life, creating a bond so strong that it made him the beloved man we all remember today.
Survived by his wife Chrystel, his children Maddelyne (Thomas) Farral, Alex (Sheridan) Ramsey.
His three grandchildren Henri Farral, Charles Farral and Juliette Ramsey. His cousins Jennifer Martinez, Todd Montgomery, and Barry Rankin. His brothers Dwayne, David (Nick), and Rob Ross. His mother Diane Ross.
He was preceded in death by his father Johnny Ross, brother Johnny Mack Ross, cousin Danny Rankin, aunt Donna Drake and aunt Barbara McGee.
