Kathleen Elizabeth O'Connell Schlachter
February 20, 1926 ~ January 31, 2023
Kathleen Elizabeth O'Connell Schlachter was born at home to parents Timothy and Theresa O'Connell in Toledo, Ohio, on February 20, 1926 and died January 31, 2023. She was one of four siblings.
Kathleen graduated in 1947 from Mary Manse College in Toledo and married her sweetheart James M. Schlachter also of Toledo, on August 30, 1947 at the Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Kay and Jim had five children. In 1973 the family moved to Dallas, Texas where they owned and operated several small businesses. Kay was a member of the Oak Cliff Book Club and The Heirloom Study Club.
Kay is survived by her brother Timothy O'Connell of Mesa Arizona, her five children and their spouses, Anne and Francois Chandou, James and Deborah Schlachter, Tina and Robert Goegel, Karl and Jill Schlachter, and Gretchen and Wade Champion. Fourteen grand-children, 30 great grand-children, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Theresa O'Connell, her husband Jim, her sister Peg Reed and her brother Art O'Connell.
May she Rest in Peace in the arms of Our Lord. "Love never fails. Prophecies will cease; tongues will be silent; knowledge will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect & prophesying is imperfect. In the end there are three things that remain: faith, hope and love. And the greatest of these is love." (1 Cor. 13:8-9, 13)
There will be a mass of Christian burial at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 231 N Marsalis Ave, Dallas, TX at 10:00 am on February 20, 2023, with the Rosary preceding at 9:30 am. Interment to followed at Holy Redeemer Cemetery 1500 S Westmoreland Rd, DeSoto, TX .
