Obituary

Julie Kay Dobbs, 50, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family, Tuesday August 23, 2022.

Julie Kay Dobbs, was born on May 23, 1972 to Dr. Kenneth and Helen Dobbs. She graduated from The Notre Dame School of Dallas.

The youngest of 10, Julie came into the world with a heart anomaly. The doctors said she wouldn't live very long but she proved them wrong and her sweet heart grew and gave tremendous love to everyone she met. She never met a stranger. Julie lived a full life, always in the spotlight and surrounded with love and support. Julie was always along for the ride on every family adventure, both stateside and abroad. She was often the reason for the party and always the life of it. She never wanted to miss out on the fun or the chance to go for a swim. Julie was a strong swimmer and began swimming at the age of 3 even before she could walk.

Julie played the bells in the choir at Notre Dame; and ran in the Special Olympics, although it wasn't her favorite.

Julie especially loved music and dancing and always managed to find the cutest guy in the room to dance with. She could dance for hours on end in her earlier days. It wasn't uncommon for Julie to be invited to join the band onstage at concerts to dance or sing and often joined the bands backstage.

Her other favorite pastimes were going out to lunch, playing the guitar, singing, coloring, painting, cards, pickleball, and bowling.

Julie worked at Texas Scottish Rite, Manny's as a hostess and as an administrative assistant to her sister Karen.

She loved Walker Texas Ranger and even had the chance to meet Chuck Norris on set.

Julie's life lives on forever in the memories and stories of all that knew her.

Julie was cared for primarily by her sister Colleen after her mother passed. She is survived by nine siblings (Lynda Frese, Kathleen Hawkins, Stephen Dobbs, Pat Dobbs, Ann Abeita, Karen McGahen (Paul), Sharon Dobbs, Colleen Dobbs and Greg Dobbs (Karen), nine nieces and nephews (Kurtis Buenting (Natalie), Mitchell Abeita, Lauren Doherty (Austin), Michael Hawkins, Claire Hawkins, Aaron Dobbs, Luke Hawkins, Cole Hawkins and Addisun Abeita), two great nieces, and countless friends who consider her a sister.
