Judith Moriarty
August 17, 1945 - January 19, 2024
Gentle and quiet, servant hearted, kind and selfless; these are the words that describe Judy Moriarty. The sweetest wife, devoted mother, doting grammy to her five precious grandchildren, sister, aunt and friend. She lived a life of service and love. If you knew her, you knew she loved you dearly. She served her entire family well and her church family regularly.
Judy was born on August 17, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Clarence and Juanita Akers. She graduated from Sunset High School and went on to East Texas State University. She married Mickey Moriarty on June 17, 1966. Her favorite song was Blue Moon and she could regularly be heard singing that tune while doing her daily activities.
She is survived by her husband Mickey, her daughters, Dawn and Melissa, her sons in law, Jimmy and Chris and her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Zac and his wife Abby, Graham, Caleb, Madison and Will and a new great grandson, James Crosby. She is also survived by her older sister, her sister and brother in law and many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly as well as countless friends who received love from her daily. She was a gift giver...she loved giving the best gifts to others. Christmas morning was her favorite day of the year as she watched those she loved tearing into gifts that she picked out for them. She loved giving in secret too. She anonymously bought school supplies and new school clothes for her co-workers' children. She filled Christmas stockings for kids in her church and she was always on the lookout for ways she could bless others without them knowing. She loved to give; whether it was the gift of her time or a beautifully wrapped present, it was her honor to give.
She loved to travel and see new places. As a young wife and mother she would often plan surprise weekend getaways and have all the bags packed and ready for when her girls were out of school and her husband came home from work. She wasn't one to sit still very long. All of her trips had agendas and ledgers to keep everyone on time and on budget. She traveled the world with her family and friends and she was able to see and experience places some only dream of, and she loved every minute of it.
But most of all, she loved Jesus. Every weekend she could be found in her Sunday School classroom preparing for the children. She loved teaching and leading them; sharing about the saving grace of Jesus. She would not want anyone reading this to leave without knowing that Jesus loved us so much that he gave his life for us. She would want you to know that his love covers us, heals us, motivates us and saves us. She lived a life for Christ. She was an example of servant hearted grace. She was the most generous soul and she loved others so very well.
There will be a celebration of life fellowship at Community Baptist Church in Ferris, TX on January 25, 2024 from 4-6pm.
