Josephine Elizabeth Alvarado "Yaya" was born on August 30, 1940, and gained her wings on April 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in El Mott, a small community in Waco, Texas. At a very young age her family moved to Dallas where she would forever reside.
Josephine graduated from St. Ann's School in 1959 and then went to work for the Susan Crane Co. where she mastered the art of wrapping gifts and making beautiful handmade bows.
On August 9, 1964, she married the love of her life Jesse Alvarado. They would soon grow their family of two to five by welcoming one son and two daughters.
One of Josephine's greatest gestures of love was often cooking a delicious meal for family and friends. She was an avid reader who particularly enjoyed romance novels. Josephine worked in the service industry in the Highland Park area for over thirty years where she was adored and loved by many families.
After retiring, she continued to fully devote her time to her family and being a loving grandmother. Josephine, known as "Yaya" helped raise and guide her six grandchildren into adulthood up until her very last day here on Earth. No one who met Josephine will ever forget her everlasting beauty nor deny her infectious smile and laughter.
Josephine is preceded in death by her loving husband of Fifty years; Jesse Alvarado; her parents; Luisa and Elidio Alvarez, and Elizabeth Martinez; her sisters; Rebecca Espinosa, Mary Cantu, and Dolores Porras; survived by her children; Jesse Alvarado, Anna Alvarado, and Rebecca (John) Morin and grandchildren; Jessica (Jamie) Godwin, Jacquelyn Alvarado, Kenneth Wegman IV, John Paul II, Samantha, and Isabella Morin. She additionally leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to also Thank Luisa K. Rodriguez and Frances J. Espinosa, whom she referred to as, "her Angels" for always being by her side through all the years.
