Obituary

Jonathan Paul Lewis of Red Oak, TX, passed away on May 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 65.

He was born on July 25, 1956, to Gene E & Billie Charlene Lewis in Dallas, TX.

Throughout his childhood he would help his daddy build things. In fact, he helped build their home.

In 1978, he married his sweetheart, Janis Lynn Hammond. Together they built storage sheds for 16 years. Jon's love for building things continued as a hobby with yard art, windmills, and antiques. In fact, he wanted to be known as, your neighborhood junk man. What others viewed as junk; Jon viewed as a treasure.

Jon is preceded in death by his father Gene E Lewis, his infant sister, his grandparents, few aunts, uncles, brothers in law, niece, and nephews.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Janis Lewis, his daughter Jennifer Low, son in law, Asa E Low, III, his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Low and his grandson Asa Low, IV.

He is also survived by his God-fearing precious mama, Charlene Lewis, his sisters Charlotte Smith (Gary), Marye Beth Massie (Doug), Patti Love (Stewart) & his brother, David Lewis (Eva). Sisters in Law, JoAnn Gibson, Julie Campos, Jeanne Saxon (George), June Malone (Terry), Jeanette Martin (Brady), Brothers in Law, Jerry Hammond (Linda) & John Hammond, Jr along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Jon never met a stranger. He was kind and tenderhearted towards those who were in need. He had a gift of knowing who needed uplifting and encouragement. Whether it be a smile, handshake, thumbs up or fist bump, you could always count on Jon to say, Hang in There.

Jon loved his family and friends with all his heart. He would do anything for them. Not a day went by where he did not say, I am proud of you, and I love you. We will miss this kind soul but know we will see him again.
