Attendees should kindly meet inside the funeral home at 0900 sharp. From there they will convoy together to the Dallas Ft. Johnny Francis Thompson was born August 12, 1942 in Foard County, TX. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Thompson; his father, Wilburn "Bill" Thompson; his mother, Isla Mae Thompson, Zeibig (nee); and his sister, Sandra Glover.
Johnny was a graduate of Crowell High School. He worked as a surveyor and a carpenter, building stadiums and factories across the Midwest. In March of 1964 he was drafted to serve in the Army as a Military Policeman and deployed with the First Calvary's advance party into Vietnam where he fought bravely and was distinguished to serve as the personal bodyguard to General Westmoreland. In March 1966 he returned home by the grace of God and was honorably discharged.
Johnny married Faye Wiggins in October of 1971 in Crowell, TX where they made their home and raised their two daughters, Kimberly and Tamera.
Johnny became an accomplished career mechanic and serviced and maintained the tractors and combines of farmers across Texas for nearly twenty years. Johnny loved his daughters and was immensely proud of them and their families. He was a devout Christian man who inspired in them a love of Christ, an unparalleled work-ethic, and the notion of self-sacrifice for love of God and country.
Johnny is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Hice and husband, Gary Hice, of Valley View, Texas, and Tamera Sheil and husband, Arnold Felix, of Sudlersville, Maryland. Also surviving Johnny are his three grandsons who brought him great pride: Alex Hice and wife, Rachel, of Aubrey, TX, and their children, Gabriel and Lily; Tyler Chance Hice and wife, Shelby, of Justin, TX, and their children, Isabella and Daniel; and Andrew Hice of Norman, OK, and his children, Blakelynn and Rowan - all of whom gave him much joy in his final days. May he rest in eternal peace. Amen.
