Joel Ray Hamill, lovingly known as Daddy, Papa, Pastor and Friend, was called home to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on March 19, 2025.
He was born on August 6, 1955 to Clifford Ray and Barbara Ann Hamill. He grew up in his family home in Oak Cliff with his siblings, Patricia (deceased), Marty, (Cheryl) and Tracy.
Joel loved the Lord with all of his heart and God's love and light shown joyful in his life and activities in the ministry. Not a day went by that he didn't share Jesus with someone.
He was called to the ministry at a very young age. He was a singer and songwriter, evangelist, youth pastor and then senior pastor. He led many mission trips with the youth group and his family to different areas in Mexico. He converted and restored an old school bus into "the big red bus" known as Jesus Now Ministries Mobile Mission. to take many trips to Mexico, to feed the homeless under the bridge and at Union Gospel Mission. His devotion to his family, his flock, his friends and even strangers will always be remembered.
Joel is survived by his 3 children and their spouses, Larry Joel and Angela Hamill, Ginger Candice and Richard Gonzales and Marti Leigh Anne and Jose Fonseca. He has 14 grandchildren: Larry Joel Jr, James Larry , Emily Nicole, Dustin Ryan, Elisia Angel, Richard Alexander, Ezekial Joel, Jonathan Joel, Jacob Jordan, Julissa Jade, Jayla Michelle, Jessica Kandi Apple, Jaylan Meadow and Michael Rene. He is blessed with 8 great-grandchildren: Jaspar, Jace, Jeremiah, Jaxon, Logan, Nash, Nylah and Ava.
Also many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Joel's warmth, generosity and loving spirit touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him and the love he so freely gave. Though he is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A memorial service will be held
