J erry Don Rogers , 88 , went home to be with the Lord with family by his side on Tuesday , July 26 , 2022 .
Jerry was born on November 5, 1933 to Nanny Rogers and S.O. Rogers in Mt. Pleasant , Texas. He served in the United States Air Force from February,1954 to October, 1957 prior to being honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. Following his service to his country, Jerry worked many years for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway until his retirement in 1992 .
Jerry's kindness and love was a hallmark of his life as evidenced by the many lives he touched and the close , lifelong friendships he had . He enjoyed time with people, specifically his family, who were his greatest joy and delight. The only thing more precious to him than his meeting with friends and family was meeting with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jerry's devout faith carried him home in the later years of his life and proclaimed a message of hope to all he encountered.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruthie Jean Blaylock.
He is survived by his wife , Susan Rogers; his children: Judith Carol Reddell, Jerry Don ( Sonny ) Rogers Jr., John Shelby Rogers, Samuel Lee Hazelmyer, and step-son Jody Crabtree; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Mary Lou Robertson, and several nieces and nephews .
The entire family would like to express their genuine appreciation for the prayers, support, and condolences from all who were able to love and be loved by Jerry.
Visitation and gathering will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Jeter & Son Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Funeral Service will be at 11:30AM, Monday, August 8, 2022 at the funeral home. Military Honors and interment will follow at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
