Javier Escamilla

Javier Escamilla was born in Pharr, Texas, in Hidalgo County, on July 6, 1954, to his father, Jesus Escamilla, and was raised by his mother, Lydia Rivera.

During his younger years, Javier worked alongside his father in the fields, picking watermelons. He had an incredible knowledge of not only watermelons, but all types of fruits. Javier spent many years working as a truck driver, traveling from state to state. In his downtime, you could often find him cheering on the Texas Rangers, working in the yard or eating a juicy valley lemon.

 He retired from LKQ in 2019 as a Delivery Driver, where he took great pride in being continuously recognized for his commitment to safe driving.

After retirement, Javier cherished the opportunity to spend more time with his grandchildren and make lasting memories with his family.

On September 4, 2026, Javier peacefully went home surrounded by his loving family: his wife, Lydia Escamilla; his son, Xavier Escamilla, and daughter-in-law, Marybell Escamilla; his daughter, Sara Sosa, and son-in-law, Jesse Sosa; and his grandchildren, Michael Escamilla, Emma Sosa, and Matthew Sosa.

He was preceded in death by his son, Felipe O. Escamilla.

Javier will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
