James Taylor was born on December 6, 1942, to Isaac Reese and Beulah Taylor in Eudora, Arkansas. James was also known as Skate, Papa James, and JT. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball. He loved walking at Traders Village, sightseeing, traveling, and spending time with his family. James was a man of few words, but when he spoke, he always made you laugh. James enjoyed working with his hands and helping others.
Most of James' life he lived in Eudora, Arkansas, and was raised by his grandparents James and Addie Taylor. James was married to his first wife Charlene, and they raised together four children. James later met Olevia Hinson, and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1988. They were married in 1989. James dedicated his life to Jehovah on June 8, 2002, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. His greatest joy was his ministry, where he loved helping others learn about Jehovah. He had the privilege of serving as a Ministerial Servant for many years.
James was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Addie Taylor; Father, Isaac Reese; and Mother, Beulah Taylor Thompson; two Daughters, Yvonnette Taylor Moore, and Lisa Taylor Collins; and one Brother, Fred Robinson. James leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Olevia Taylor; six loving and caring children, James Taylor, Jr. (Shirley) Manvel, TX, LaTusha Trusty (Albert) Alexandria, LA, LaTunya Mahadeo, Richmond, TX, Rhoda Daniels (Leiroi) Sugarland, TX, Albert Thomas (Gloria) Eudora, AR, Charles Cox (Jacqueline) Bryant, AR; and five loving and caring step-children, Corey Parker (Lana) Wylie TX, Jammie Hinson (Katina) Dallas, TX, Felicia Spurlock (Keith) Lancaster, TX, Oliver Hinson, Jr., Dallas, TX, and Calvin Hinson, Dallas, TX; also, 10 siblings, Joe Banks, San Francisco, CA, Mary Robinson, San Francisco, CA, Isaiah Robinson (Lanie) Richmond, CA, Troy Robinson, San Francisco, CA, Edward Robinson (Shannon) Vallejo, CA, Marjorie Robinson, San Francisco, CA, Dolores Robinson, Richmond, CA, Debbie Robinson, Oakland, CA, Joyce Dubose Banks, Suisun City, CA, Isa Kalifa, Stockton, CA; and 21 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Fred and Anthony Howard, Robert Brewer, and John Henry Scott.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Jeter & Son Funeral Home located at 4830 west Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75211.
