Obituary

Ivy Randle Gooch, Sr.
November 26, 1934 - June 11, 2025
Dallas, TX

Ivy Randle Gooch, known by all as Randle was a beloved man by all who knew him. He was born on November 26, 1934, in Telephone TX, and passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Dallas TX.

He was an only child to Woodrow and Edith Gooch and learned to work hard with excellence on the farm. He took that work ethic and applied it wherever he planted himself. He first started off-taking his young family to Modesto, California working in the fruit fields, then to Stafford, Arizona. He finally moved his family to Dallas, Texas settling in Oak Cliff and working as Inventory Controller at Plastics Mfg.Co for 35 years.

As Randle worked hard, he believed in rewarding his family with long road trips to various destinations around the states his favorite being Yosemite National Park. He loved hiking and would hike the falls in Yosemite with his family. He was also very competitive at games, whether putt-putt, ball games, or dominoes. You name the game, and he was going to win.

Randle loved the word of God and would direct his family into seeking out God's word for their lives. A family tradition would be reading God's word daily on the farm with his parents, all taking part in reading aloud. He loved the Lord and trusted the Lord all his life.

Randle is survived by his wife, Shirley Jeanette of 42 years, and by his 2 children and 3 stepchildren, Ivy Gooch (Nora), Lana Gooch-Hernandez, Robert Hanlon (BJ), Ronald Hanlon, Charlene Nelson (Scott). He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Gooch and his parents, Woodrow and Edith Gooch.

Randle will be remembered as a dedicated man, dedicated to God, and to his family. A man who enjoyed life well.
