Homer "Victor"
O'Reilly
Jan 11, 1921 — Nov 14, 2024
H. Victor O'Reilly
January 11, 1921 – November 14, 2024
H. Victor O'Reilly passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the remarkable age of 103. Born on January 11, 1921, in Dallas, Texas, to EC O'Reilly and Irene Hammett O'Reilly, Victor was a beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Victor pursued his education at Texas A&M University, Class of 1945, which was interrupted by basic training for World War II, where he trained sharp-shooters. He graduated in 1948 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, a deep love of A&M football and a resigned tolerance for Aggie jokes. Post graduation, he continued his career at Dallas Power & Light, which was again interrupted by his service in the Korean War from 1950-1952. He returned to Dallas Power & Light in the Underground Lines Division, where he worked from a systems engineer to eventually heading the division.
Victor was happiest when he was tinkering in the garage, listening to music, helping friends and neighbors with their home/auto repairs and scouring the junk yards for "treasures". His quiet sense of humor and heart touched everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Victor's longevity and strength were matched only by his love for his family. He was married to Louella Archer O'Reilly from 1953 until her death in 2016. His sister, Mary Elizabeth O'Reilly, preceded him in death.
Victor is survived by his daughters, Kerry O'Reilly and Kathleen O'Reilly Panov, his son-in-law Arthur Panov, and his grand-children, Alexandra Panov and Duncan Panov.
A celebration of Victor's life will be held on Wednesday November 20, at 10am at Cliff Temple Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of your choice in his memory.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
