Harry Lackey Jr. was born in 1946 as the second of six children to Harry Lackey Sr. And Louetta Riley in Dallas, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Donna Lackey of Dallas, TX; son Robert Lackey and wife Norma of Grand Prairie, TX; son Jason Lackey and wife Carrie of Staunton, VA; 6 grandchildren: William Lackey of Zion Crossroads, VA; Kristen Persina and husband Nathaniel of Staunton, VA; Jasmine Lackey of Grand Prairie, TX; Joshua Lackey of Grand Prairie, TX; Kieran Lackey of Staunton, VA; Jacob Lackey of Grand Prairie, TX; and one great granddaughter Charlotte Bee Persina; brother James Lackey of Ben Wheeler, TX and sister Mary Weisman and husband Luke of Allen, TX; along with the many nieces, nephews and in-laws he also leaves behind.

Harry was a lifelong Dallas resident and began working at a young age. Before he graduated from W.H. Adamson in 1964, he had a paper route and assisted his father working on cars. After graduation, he began his career working as a court bailiff for the City of Dallas and as a part owner of a store with his brother John. He began attending the University of Texas in Arlington when the U.S. Army called him to serve in 1967. Once he returned from Vietnam in 1969, he picked up where he left off, got married in 1973 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from UTA in 1976. He would eventually retire from the City of Dallas as a Code Compliance Officer after 32 years but that wouldn't slow him down. He would continue working for Baron and Budd Law Firm for 8 years and again in various roles for the federal government for 4 years before officially retiring for good.

Harry was a man of service and was active within the Oak Cliff community. If he wasn't home, you might find him active in the church, his kid's school, or the neighborhood helping others. While at Kiestwood Baptist, he served on the building and grounds committee and used his skills to build a prayer room. During his time at Grace Temple Baptist, he served as an

ordained church Deacon, assisted in after school programs, and helped provide grounds security. After settling with First Baptist of Dallas, he served as a prayer partner for the pastor. During his residence in Oak Cliff, he helped to restore various neighborhoods by volunteering time and physical labor, addressing crime, painting over graffitied areas, planting trees and empowering schools. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with stained glass, carpentry, camping, and taking his sons to Texas Rangers games.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Howell, and brothers John Lackey and Joe Lackey. He was a great husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many as well as a caregiver to his mother, mother-in-law and wife. He loved God, he loved his country, and he loved his family. He will be missed.

Services will be Tuesday February 3, 2026,

at Jeter & Son Chapel, 4830 W. Illinois Ave, Dallas, TX 75211.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a service at 11:30 a.m..

Burial will follow at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
