Celebrating the Life of Graciela "Chela" Torres

Graciela Idalia Torres, our beloved "Chela," passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, on August 29, 2026, surrounded by the family she live-streamed her love into every day. Born in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, on June 9, 1954, to Roberto Torres and Obdulia De Hoyos, Graciela later moved to Dallas, building a life defined by warmth, deep compassion, and absolute devotion to her people.

To know Chela was to know joy. Music was the backdrop of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to dance. Whether she was traveling to new places, trying local restaurants, or attending church, she moved through the world with a radiant smile that could light up any room. She transformed her house into a home of comfort and sanctuary, where everyone was welcomed with open arms. A woman with a true heart of gold, Chela was entirely selfless. She loved freely, worried deeply, and cared for others instinctively.

She rejoices in heaven now with her parents and her siblings, Martha, Guadalupe, and Roberto Torres, who preceded her in death.

Her beautiful legacy lives on through her devoted husband, her four children, and her eight grandchildren. She also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and friends. While her passing leaves a profound stillness, her family will forever carry the echo of her laughter, the memory of her dancing, and the warmth of her unforgettable embrace.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the chapel of Jeter & Son Funeral Home, located at 4830 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75211.

A reception will be held following the service at 

Centro Event Center, 3822 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75233.
