Gilbert was born July 5, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Pete and Juanita Rosales. He passed away peacefully on July 17, 2022.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Juanita Rosales and grandson Chasen Thibeault.

He is survived by his sister Olivia Sullivan; sons Gilbert Jr. and Rene; daughters Cynthia McElligott, Kristina Thibeault, and Lisa Rosales; 4 grand children and 2 great grandchildren.

Gilbert attended Crozier Tech High School in Downtown Dallas and joined the Navy in December 1955 where he was sent to the Philippines. After completing his active service, he served an additional 4 years in the reserves.

Gilbert went to work for the VA as a Dental Technician in Dallas, Texas in 1962 and transferred to Southern California where he retired in 1997 after 35 years. His retirement was short-lived however. Because of how active he was and his great love of golf, he decided to join the food and beverage team at Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California as the Snack Bar Manager. So, when he wasn't behind the window, you could always find him on the course.

Gilbert never met a stranger. He loved to talk, tell stories and always had a joke at the ready!

His smile, laugh, great stories and hilarious jokes will be forever missed.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 12 Noon in the chapel of

Jeter & Son Funeral Home located at 4830 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75211.
