Mar 31, 1928 — Nov 22, 2024
George Christian
George Christian aged 96 passed away at Arlington Memorial Hospital on November 22, 2024, after suffering a stroke on November 13, 2024, his son Michael's birthday. He loved and was loved by his family and friends who will miss him always.
George was born on March 31, 1928 in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Homer and Alfretta Christian, and he was one of five children. He attended Dallas Technical High School and then joined the Navy at the tail end of World War II. After his term of service, he then entered the Air Force and served until 1957. He said he couldn't believe he would actually volunteer to go through basic training twice! But he did. He enjoyed aspects of both military branches, but preferred the Air Force overall. A year later in 1958, he married Marjorie Jenkins in Dallas, Texas, and they had two children.
George is survived by his children Sheryl and Michael; his grandchildren Cory and Caryn; his great grandchildren Cindy, Kelly, and Makana; also his younger brother Chris, Chris' partner TJ, and many friends from all walks of life.
As a young man, he became a Mason in the Scottish Rite and also joined the IBEW, or International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. These were lifelong commitments and though quite separate, he considered both to be an honor and a privilege.
George worked for Federal Sign and Signal in various departments for many years. Afterwards he created his own business called G&M Engraving. It was quite successful. He created directories and signs of all types, along with a variety of other things for many businesses. He did the same, as well as building podiums, for his church, First Baptist of Grand Prairie. Whenever he was asked for whatever was needed, he always found a way.
George, Dad, Grandpa - We love you from the depths of our hearts and will forever miss you.
